Following the flood, ive now stripped out the room that forms the old part of our house.
So no DPC.
Until now, its been platered with gypsum on the inside. Its rendered on the outside, but with exposed brick at the base. The flor is concrete that has been added later, with a DPM under.
All plaster has now been removed. For the most part its surprisingly dry, but there are damp patches. One area that i strpped earler seems dry already, but was damp when stripped.
The point im getting to is the concrete slab. In an ideal world, id rip it out and replace with limecrete. However, its old, hard as nails and at least 8 inches thick. and limecrete doesnt come cheap.
I need to make a decision on what to do. But not having any experience of this, how do i know if my lime plastered walls (when i do them) will be sufficently dry dry for no damp to be visible?
Removing and replacing the slab will give my the best possible result, but is it strictly necessary?
