Hi , I have recently had chimney repointed on my 1920's Semi-Detatched property.
I had no idea that till now that the original mortar was lime and the roofer who did the work used cement (see attached). Tbh I did not understand much about how lime was used in older properties but starting to learn.
Is this likely to cause long term damage to the bricks - In time I would consider pointing in lime mortar but obviously having just had the work done I would prefer not to have it re-done immediately.The neighbours half is still lime but not in brilliant condition.
