Yes, that is correct. There is another chimney breast directly above it.

So the stove will be set back into that hearth and the flue pipe routed directly up through the extant chimney. Thank goodness, for a moment there you had me thinking a whacking great pipe would be running up directly in front the surround you're looking at.
That aside, I think you would be wise to get that preparation of the chimney breast done and the stove installed BEFORE you fit the surround. That way at least you can ensure the surround is properly centred around the stove. May also be an idea to check how the chimney sweep would be able to access the flue and whether he may need to lift off the top cover of the stove, as he does mine, to clean out that section or alternatively access the flue from the main doors of the fire box.

Glad we’ve got that straight now. Regarding the surround, yes, definitely it will be fitted afterwards.
As we are going to be using a flu liner, I’m not sure they’ll be any need for a sweep but then again I’m not sure.
I’m trying to get as much of the job done myself to save money. I spoke to the installer and he suggested that I leave the hearth to them and then he asked if I’m doing the whole job to which I replied no I’m just trying to save some money as money is tight at the moment and trying to move the job on as far as possible. Aside from that you guys remember I had serious after buying this property so I’m trying to do something to bond with it and this is certainly helping.
I’ve added pictures of how far I got today. All I have to do is remove the stretcher bricks from the bottom of the arch and then hand it over to the Stove Installer.

Hold on! What is currently holding that arch up? Is there a steel of some kind below it? Regardless, I think you would be wise to point up the brickwork above what you are proposing to remove before you do anything else.

A woodburner will inevitably produce tars and soot that will adhere to the inner face of the steel liner. Occasionally sufficient will accumulate to fall back down the stove. Depending on the internal design of the Firebox those deposits can accumulate to become a chimney fire risk. You will need an annual visit from a sweep.
