Me and my partner have recently moved into Victorian terraced house. We have original staircase which we would like to restore, however, I discovered the wood in the base of the staircase under the stairs is covered in white residue. The wood is very solid and dry, however, I have never came across anything similar and wondered if this is rather concerning and would require to be checked? Any advise would be much appreciated! Thank you
