Hi, found this lodged in the roof of the cart house, which is of Victorian date.
There was a small mill here until the first half of the last century, so it could have been taken from that. It might be smoke blackened on one side? There was also a small furnace/smithy here mid 18th C.
Its crumbling into dust so I'm guessing it's quite old. Can anyone who understands roof anatomy or timbers identify what it might be from?
No worries if not, just a bit puzzling why it was in the roof of the cart house doing nothing.
