That is one hell of a lot of house for the money. Think what that would cost if it was somewhere like Surrey! Still more in Lincolnshire than I can afford though, to buy or run!

Looks amazing but, as I realised when in the RAF, Lincoln is pretty remote compared to elsewhere, not to mention very cold in any north or easterly wind. Ruskington is quite close to Cranwell, chosen as the RAF's main pilot training base by Trenchard in the early 1920s precisely because it was so far from any distractions for young wannabe pilots!

True but London is far more accessible these days with the train just 1hr and 10 from Grantham. Newark is only 25 mins away and is so nice.

Lincoln is a bit disappointing to be honest.

These kind of houses always make you think "what's wrong with it then?" In this case, well it's got 2 flats within it that are both let out on short tenancies, the kitchen is described as "basic" which in estate agent speak probably means a sink and a 1960's cupboard, and a bathroom that even they describe as needing refitting. None of which sound like major problems.

My parents saw an advert for a suspiciously cheap house when I was a kid, in the pre-internet days, in a "rural location" according to the estate agent's bumpf. I still remember turning up to see it - it had an MOT testing station for buses and lorries on one side of it, a sewage works on the other side, and an MOD firing range behind it!

This one has a reasonably busy B road running right next to it on two sides. Not the end of the world for most people but if you are in the market for a grand pile like this one then it is not the most desirable feature and you might look elsewhere

(OK, I had to Google to find out what a Lindy class is. Can't be too posh, they have them in Wolverhampton apparently :wink: And I thought Rigby & Peller was more uplifting than upholstery, posh bras for presumably posh bosoms?)

Yes, the Queen herself buys Rigby & Peller. When one is well-built superior engineering is called for.

Missing London badly right now. I love the house in the right move link but we’d have to sell Beacon Cottage AND the London flat to be able to afford it, and even then I’m not sure there would be enough left over to furnish it, not in the style it deserves anyway! And I want to take our flat back as a pied a terre!

You really would rattle around in a house like that. Although being able to say "East or West?" when someone says they will be "in the lounge" is a novelty I could persist with for some time.......
