Best tool to remove plaster?

Hi,

First time posting.

We recently bought an old 1900ish house and a lot of the plaster was cracked and loose.

So I have stripped back the plaster with an sds drill, but now I am looking for the best way to get the lime plaster off the stone/cement wall.

Tried multi tool, sander, chisels but none of them seem to work very well.

What colour was the plaster you removed? Lime plaster is quite soft and removes easily so it sounds to be like you might have removed gypsum plaster and you’ve now come up against a layer of concrete slurry which will be as hard as……well concrete

Thanks for your reply.

The top layer was hard as concrete, that has now been removed.

The stuff underneath is soft and seems to be lime plaster. It comes off easy, but it’s just very tedious to get off.

The walls will be plastered again, so not too worried about scratches. Just want to find a quick solution to get the last bits of lime plaster off.

Left is the top layer on, right is the layer off.

Plasterer said it needs to be cleaned and free from old lime plaster to be able to build up the layers of the wall again.

I have an air hammer with a chisel set purchased from Lidl that I've used for removing plasters & cement - Light weight and generally quite effective, but does consume a lot of air (so you need a decent size compressor). Around here, the lime plaster will often fall off the wall just by looking at it. It really doesn't need much encouragement.
