Breathability is a spectrum and sadly to some extent it's down to washability, the more washable the less breathable a paint is likely to be. The chalky emulsion is probably equivalent to a 'flat matt' emulsion (see F&B Estate Emulsion) which is on the 'might be a bit wipeable at a pinch' end of the spectrum. I rate that as 'breathable' and have used it successfully on walls in a basement.
There's little on the Sanderson's website to guide anyone beyond marketing hype about some lovely colours - make of that what you will!

Entirely depends on SD value, nothing was forthcoming on the descriptions on their website so difficult to say if breathable or not.
Perhaps they might offer this info if you email them?
Have a search of the forum, many recent discussions. Depends on your surface and the moisture management it needs to deliver.
Genuine - limewash, or distemper. They will manage in both liquid and vapour form. SD values are misleading, they only measure vapour in a lab.

William Morris paint not being suitable for period properties with lime plaster is quite sad given what he stood for. Terrible use of the branding if you ask me.

Likely to be a paint supplied by a third party that they don't have much control over other than colour. possibly more breathable than say Vinyl Slyk, but it could be more similar to Vinyl Matt (best avoided) than a Flat Matt or a Contract emulsion.
Distemper. Rose of Jericho or Ingilby. Speak to them, they’re massively helpful…

Technically internal partitions, not internal face of external walls, don’t need to be treated with quite so much care - unless there’s moisture tracking up from the ground. Or masses of moisture in the room space, bathroom/kitchen for example…

"old fashioned milk paint" contains lime so I would presume its fine on lime plasters , I just had a look on their web page but cant see the answer they are very nice though and as I bought water based eco sealant through them.

Vinyl wallpapers to be avoided at all costs if there is any risk of damp.
Last time I looked I came to the conclusion that wall paper pastes (in powder form at least) are cellulose based with some natural and others synthetic, the latter just as good, though having no nutritional value. I always make my own up (LAP Traditional Cold Water Paste - if I can find it).
There's some suggestion in forums that ready mixed pastes may contain PVA, though this is not necessarily a bad thing in the breathability stakes. A weak PVA Bond mix can be very useful in stabilising weak and powdery surfaces thus preserving original material - I have done plenty of that over many years in different rooms without any problem at all.

I don't know if Ingilby does distemper? I'll have to investigate that.
Rose of Jericho do but the colour choice is minimal and uninspiring imho.
Incidentally there was a woman on one of the FB groups last month who 'appeared' very knowledge praising Little Greene distemper. Not the first person I've seen do that. I think the whole subject of paint is a minefield, even more so than lime plaster. You'll get a multitude of opinions from all sides, there are people who will swear only by lime wash and think almost everything else is entirely untrustworthy.
They do, I’ve been using it recently. Only a casein though RoJ have soft, casein and oil bound. The Ingilby is far more competitively priced, and I’ve found nicer to apply also… Ingilby will also colour match pretty much anything they can.
There are lots of folks on those FB groups who have some opinions! ….Little Greene isn’t quite there though. Limewash has its uses, but it isn’t practical enough for every use and not every wall requires the absolute permeability of a genuine limewash. Dare I say it, many walls cope fine with incorrect plastic bound paints…

I've mucked about a bit with Ingilby limewash. The colour chart is a bit more interesting. I'll definitely take a look at their distemper. I must have every colour chart under the sun in drawer.
The problem with their colour charts, isn’t that they aren’t very extensive, and when you buy one, it’s a small selection… however, if you have a colour in mind they can match it. Over the years they’ve mixed a fair few by all accounts…
