Does anyone have any advice, or a book which contains advise that they can recommend?
Yesterday, I discovered that a 10' section of stone garden wall had collapsed (probably due to the heavy rain on Sunday and the fact that I've been ignoring an ever expanding hole in it because there is always something more important to work on).
The construction is basic to say the least. It's pretty thick, probably about 1.5' or so, perhaps more. Outer faces of stone and inner of any old rubbish the builder could find, including bits of brick, stones, mud, pebbles etc.
I've not built anything from scratch before, so can anyone tell me how to go about it? Do I dig a footing, or start on the ground? Do I build up the sides first, and fill the centre afterwards, or do it at the same time?
I'm presuming a NHL 3.5 would be a good mix for it. Any thoughts?
