Cellar door

There is an old thread about my cellar door warping because of the damp but I had a new idea and would appreciate your thoughts. I have had to replace the door three times since 2018.

I am wondering if a UPVC door (with frame and threshold) would be a solution. I know, I know - UPVC is a dirty word here. Could it handle the damp?
The house is listed house so would need LBC (unless CO could treat it as a repair - the door is not visible to anyone and would look identical to the existing one) just wondering if it could be a solution.

FYI there is no way to improve ventilation in the cellar.

UPVC or composite doors will generally perform much better than timber in very damp conditions.

When all else fails then UPVC can and will do the job you need. It won't warp and if its well constructed it will resist any kind of weather conditions, and damp in particular - it will even give a coppers 'big red key' more than a bit of a challenge.

This is naughty, but I will say it anyway. I wouldn’t bother asking, not unless you plan to sell quite soon. At worst it’s discovered, how that would happen is hard to imagine, and retrospective permission is refused and you have to change it. I apologise to the purists
