The front wall of my basement flat in a converted house built around 1817 always seems to be wet and it rises up to reach up to 2 thirds of the wall indoors and outdoors.
It had exterior and exterior paint that wasn’t breathable before and there was evidence of old damp proof injections. This was later replaced with lime plaster but the problem persists. Water continues to get into the wall and it is very wet inside. How can I solve this problem once and for all? Do I need a French drain? Do magnetic damp proof courses work and is that best for this problem?
Please help!
