Hi
We have a listed (grade 2) Georgian house which i am slowly fixing up. Most things things we have encountered so far have either been repairs or where a replacement has been needed, we have been able to use "like" materials for repair. We havw applied for loated buildings consent where this has not been possible.
I am starting on the coach house this year which has been bashed about by the previous owners. Currently the inside is basically gutted with modernish bare planks for flooring and a modern roof. Outside there are the remenents of a clay toilet waste pipe. I know that if we want to reinstate a toilet we will need to apply for listed building consent but as the toilet waste pipe is already there, but obviously damaged, could we repair it without permission? I. E. Reinstate the external soil stack to where the existing hole on the wall is. Will check old pics to see if it is cast iron or clay.
I guess it wont really save me much if we need to get permission for the internal loo but it would be nice to get this sorted whilst we have scaffolding up.
Actually, thinking about thia, its gokng to be really hard to put cast iron back in place isnt it... Maybe i should just start another application!
