I'm creating a wetroom- extending the WC in my lower ground floor. So, space is tight. The walls have extensive damp. While I'm fixing the source of water leaks I can see i.e. rainwater trickling from entrance stairs, stripping off mirtar back to bricks, my damp surveyor suggestion Type C DPM. While the DPM installer over a call said tanking could also be an option. Both are equally expensive :-( What's the right method, to ultimately tile it and use as a wet room?

To help further, can you tell us about the house, how it is constructed, solid brick, timber frame, it's age, the position of this room, does it have outside walls, what sort of mortar do you have on the walls - so we can advise on whether it needs to come off or not etc.

It's a mid terrace solid brick Victorian house pre 1900s certainly. The basement I believe was converted much later though.
Two damp impacted walls - one is facing outside (2.2m heighX1.5m width of the space), the other party wall with neighbour (2.2mx4.5m length of the space). Cement mortar that I'm stripping back to bricks anyway as the plaster is peeling off. No windows in this space. Doing underfloor heating, and tiles on floor. Tiling top to bottom on impacted walls (open to shower panel if that's better for damp walls). So, will Tanking be more suitable or Cavity drain membrane?
