Floorboard Gaps and Draughts – What Filler Has Worked for You?

We’ve got wide original floorboards in our front room and the gaps are pretty draughty in winter. Looking to get some DIY work done over the summer. I’ve heard of wood slivers, flexible caulk, and even rope pushed in between. Curious what others have tried that actually holds up.

Across the length of the board any filler will fail due to expansion and contraction, wood slivers is your best bet in this situation, you can purchase them online in various sizes or make your own. Wood filler has worked for me across the width of a board.

Caulking cotton has been used between floorboards by folk on here - a quick search should reveal some relevant threads
