Yes me again.
What are peoples opinions on french drains. I always though they were recommended for thatched properties because of lack of gutters. Now I am led to believe that in a thatched property it shoud be a trench dug out past the line of the thatch and filled with gravel. Now yet again been told that is the way to do it so rainwater falling off the thatch does not splash onto soil and possibly back onto the house walls.
Now lots of french drains are no more than a perforated channel underground taking excess water away. Is this the way to go with a thatched property because a perforated channel drain will not stop rainwater splashing back towards the house.
I am confused to say the least.
