That is exactly the thought I had. I actually like the quirkiness of the design with the bolts, however they do look a bit imposing and fortress like!
Oh gosh! That’s not really helpful at all. I like to think that us caring custodians of our beautiful heritage buildings would be supported for our concern and care for themWhilst undeserving of a fortress door I've had several debates with our local CO about my design for a replacement for the thoroughly ill fitting, oft repaired with inappropriate materials in seemingly ancient times, attacked by more than one generation of wood munchers currently operating as our main entrance. He has never come to accept that my design, for a hand crafted, solid three laminate oak plank structure secured with iron studs and nails, would be much more in-keeping than the present ratty plank and ledger pattern with its patently Victorian and thoroughly insecure window to which he seems vehemently wedded. I despair at times, honestly I do.![]()
Much depends on how malleable and open to persuasion the CO and BC teams are. The one have had to deal with over the last few years is an old curmudgeon... just like yours truly. The First Lady likens my meetings with him to the mutual head-butting of two old goatsOh gosh! That’s not really helpful at all. Yep, my initial thought was HMP vibes! Solid…I think Master Cubitt drew his inspiration from some of the laminated oak plank doors one can still see in many places or perhaps the heavy lockboxes used to hold valuables both at home and when travelling centuries before his time. Both the doors above smack heavily of the latter.....but for some reason the doors of Wormwood Scrubs comes to mind.![]()
