So, I bought some doors from a reclaimed place that had been dipped. There's a different thread about that.
We went to reasonable trouble to find some relatively unmolested doors. Minimal damage, holes, etc etc.
But post dipping there are some bits of white stuff left on them. Mainly in the corners of the panelled sections, and down the gaps between the "architrave" of the panels and the upright members of the door. It could be that the stuff in the architrave gaps is filler - as the gaps there are wider. But it could just be that its thicker layers of paint that didn't removed in the dipping process.
The reason we took time to look for doors in the best condition we could was because we don't want to paint them. Rather we'd rather wax, oil, (I heard that a product called Osmo 3060 door oil is a good middle ground for people with younger children as it is less sticky finger sensitive), so that the wood grain can be clearly seen.
So, I'm wondering what to do about the white bits. Any thoughts on what this is? And should I try to hack it out / reduce it in amount - maybe with some dental tools or similar. That doesn't look like a quick job or one you can be exhaustive about easily as the stuff doesn't fully come off easily. Or would I be best to just not worry about it and Osmo over the top of this white stuff and assume it will take up some colour from the oil?
Cheers
