We're in a little terrace of houses. We've recently discovered there's a draft coming up where our skirting board meets the floor along the wall between us and the neighbours. Their kitchen smells also come into our house because their kitchen is the other side of the wall - the house is an empty second home and the owners are rarely there so it's not easy to discuss this with them. Our sitting room is considerably cooler than the rest of our house but since caulking this gap, it's warmed up a bit. We'd like to fully insulate underneath the floor but it's a suspended wooden floor that needs to be ventilated.
Can anyone suggest a way of insulating a floor that still lets it breathe? It sounds like an oxymoron if I'm honest but I'm no expert. I'm hearing a lot about sheep wool which, if appropriate, would be great to use because it's good stuff and supports British farmers who are currently receiving 28p/fleece I believe. Would that work?
Any other suggestions gratefully received.
