Dear all

Well, the kitchen extension is finally built, and we have finally moved in! Here are a couple of pictures of the new kitchen. This, and the bathroom, are unremittingly modern, but in the rest of the house we've tried to be more sympathetic to how it might have looked originally - possibly a bit Laura Ashley, but budget and availability dictated slightly!



The gaping black void in the second picture is in fact the garden, and the camera hasn't coped very well with the lights, but hopefully it gives an idea.

Disgustingly good and disgustingly finished!!! And in time for Christmas this year rather than Christmas in some unspecified year. Honestly, you'll raise expectations of Mrs F that if you can achieve that much in a year then I should at least be able to sort out that big patch of bare brick in our kitchen where the plaster had to come off because of a leak about 2 years ago :roll:

And redecorating the kitchen afterwards :roll: :lol:

Well to be fair to Lady A, the picture you've posted up looks much more like a man's kitchen than a woman's. In fact I'd wager that a significant portion of the male readers took one look at your picture and thought "good job he's done there, that'll do" :wink:

Maybe change the splattered cardboard box if you're feeling houseproud!

I can see a kettle, I can see teabags, I can see a fridge for milk & beer, and a microwave for an occasional pie - what more does one need? Ahh yes - kit kats appear to be absent, a fact that I'm surprised Penners hasn't seized on already.

You've hit the nail on the head.

You say "kitchen of a woman-in-the-middle-of-building-works... ". There is a hint of temporaryness there (excuse the new word!) which would not occur to many men. And it looks like you've just done the washing up, rather than adopting the age old single-male routine of leaving it all in a dirty stack and washing it as you need it.

Anyway, what's absent? Chocolate I'd say, unless it's tucked away in the fridge, if Mrs F is anything to go by. She will withstand many deprivations but a lack of chocolate will not be tolerated.

I may be wrong, Catherine, but I think your camera lens could be a bit smeary. Try giving it a good clean - be sure to use a microfibre lens cloth.

The kitchen looks wonderful!
