Large and plaster

Hi,
I have a property with traditional lath and plaster internal walls but damp has got to them and the salts are coming through. I think plaster has fallen down from upstairs and filled the gap behind the interior wall.
Should I just have off the lath and plaster and stud and board it? Would like to keep it possible…

you can remove lower sections, then reinstall new lath, patch it in, hey presto.
