I am trying to repair a small section of lime and lath ceiling below a turn in the stairs. I don’t want to replace with plasterboard. Not so much as I am a purist, but because there is a bit of movement there, and I think the lime will have a bit of flex. And because it had a rounded area where it joined the flat ceiling above and below the area, and was a curved shape as well under the turn in the stairs. So Hard to replace with plasterboard and skim.
Was planning to use some coarse lime hemp putty plaster I have lying about for the base coat, the some Mike wye heritage plaster then regency plaster as coat two and three.
But wondering about how this will bond with the plasterboard where it joins. And also the lath is attached to a beam at the turn, with the lath starting a couple of inches above the bottom of the beam. So that area would need to adhere to just the wood. Clearly that’s how it was, but then again that area failed and needs replacing. Any thoughts about how best to go about this
