The brush strokes look bit narrow though. I wonder if you are inadvertently over brushing it and picking up under layers. I applied mine with a brush the size of a wall paper paste brush.
Thanks Sue - yes- you're right about the narrow brush. And I have spoken to R of J and received good advice, so am hopeful I can make it look a bit better than that.
Joce, you need a really big brush with floppy bristles. Badger hair are the best .Paint on in small squares, left and right brush strokes, pushing the paint well into the plaster then brush your square upwards to finsh, continue along in the same way.There does seem to be a bit of a problem with your finish, did they mention claircolle, I have always used that first before using the distemper.Also, have you stirred the distemper thoroughly, and weather conditions can make application a bit tricky

I appreciate the tips on how to paint it on as I think that's what's being going wrong, combined with the walls just sucking up the moisture straight away. R of J have said mist before, and mist during, to keep the wall wet.
