Did you install under floor heating? Is it working well? Consensus seems to be that ufh doesn't work well in older homes but I don't understand why because it should hear the floor and distribute the heat more evenly.The only thing I regret so far is that when they mixed the lime for the floor they use a plastic type of fibre for the mix and I’m sure I could’ve insisted or sourced my own non plastic fibres… also the geotextile membranes I’ve since learned that you could in fact use Hemp sacks! So that’s what I’d do if I did it again, save the plastic being in the floor!

That’s not a consensus I’ve heard at all. Quite the opposite, IF used correctly.
An old building benefits from low and constant heat. Set it at 16/17C and leave it. Which is why heat pumps can be useful, but there’s a lot of whole building thinking that needs to go into the heating setup.
We have UFH in the living room and kitchen now, since replacing failed floors with solid slabs. It works very nicely indeed, but you cannot expect to walk in, switch it on and be warm in an hour like radiators. You’re heating the fabric of the building and keeping it warm, as opposed to heating the air in a well sealed box. There’s a lag for getting to temp and also once the system is off, residual heat remains for a long overrun.
As you say, the total distribution is also much nicer than a couple of discrete heat sources. Our living room is big, 35m2 and the heat from the floor is nondescript. The bedroom above is the same footprint, with two large cast iron rads and the variance in temperature across the room is noticeable.
