I am totally gutted! I am having to remove original Lincrusta frieze, 21 inches deep, beautifully detailed and 135 yrs old! Why? Because it is impossible to replace a very prominent damaged area. So, has anyone out there got a speedy approach to removing the stuff? Whilst every bit of plaster in the place is happy to drop from the walls at the merest sneeze, the Lincrusta is stuck fast (indeed, it may be holding the cornice on)!!!
It bends and breaks off in teeny tiny chunks when sufficated with the steamer and when it finally gives up the fight, half the plaster comes with it! This is becoming an expensive and lengthy task. It took two hours to remove 3 foot of the stuff.
Any advice.....sensible please!
