Evening all! First time posting on here instead of reading so hopefully someone has some good advice!
We are starting a church renovation. The walls appear to have mould all over them but not on the surface, it appears to be under the first layer of paint as it doesn’t wipe off but comes off when chipped. My assumption is it’s an non permeable coating which has caused the moisture within the old walls to trap and subsequently growth has occurred…
Intention is to insulate the walls with wood fibre board however we need to get rid of the mould first. Should we just take off this first layer back to the clear white (see photo - which I believe is limewash) or should we go back to the original lime plaster beneath getting rid of all the layers (again see images). Bonus thank yous if anyone can tell me what the layers are here.
Thanks in advance.
