Need a wooden bolt for my knob...

As it sounds, have a lovely smooth white knob which is lacking in its ability to stay attached after a good tug.

I'll stop now, basically I'm after one of these:

In~ half inch diameter but I cannot find anywhere that sells them despite much hunting. Does the hive mind know of any suppliers?

Alternative is to fill the knob with resin and use a modern metal fixing with a penny washer, but would rather it matches it's compatriots

Thanks all, had seen that Feltwell, but just seems rather wasteful to purchase a knob and wilfully discard it! Will keep that in my back pocket so to speak, while I continue hunting.

Thank you LadyA but my carving skills are not all that sadly, plus the original knob is porcelain, so not much flexibility.

Usually porcelain comes with an embedded iron screw, or if part of a twinset it would have been on a square.

I think only modern knobs have a through-the-door-screw fixing.

Perhaps you could epoxy a nut into the porcelain knob, affix it with a countersunk setscrew, then glue the top of one of those treenscrews over the setscrew to conceal it.... hmm.

It's a chest of drawers made by my great grandfather so no idea where he sourced them from! It wouldn't surprise me if they were second hand then

There's 8 in total though so if I can find some will get some spares in!

There are plenty of easy ways to do the fix, but I'd rather keep the faith

They show as being in stock although discontinued. Listed approx size is 14mm rather than 1/2" but may be worth a try since that's only 1.5mm different and could be sanded if required
