Need an opinion on a slope i have towards the centre of my bedroom please.

The bedroom is 3.9 x 3.3. so 12.8m2. It’s on the first floor and there is no load bearing underneath as the living room below is the exact same size. From the edge of the room to the centre it slopes from around 20-25mm, it is hard to determine this exactly as it is carpeted so it is thicker around the permitter and more worn in towards the centre. This was measured using a 6ft level and a tape measure. The house was made in the 80’s, i can only assume the timber joists have crept over time. Is this normal or is it too much?

In the meantime can you confirm whether the low spot is somewhere in the middle of the room or is the slope is from one side to the other? Also, is the slope broadly uniform across the whole floor at right angles to the line of the slope? There can be different causes at work.

the room slopes towards the middle from all directions so the lowest point would be the middle. Almost as if the timbers have just bowed overtime.

Thats precisely what has happened. Sadly there may be no easy way to rectify the prone without lifting all the floorboards.

Is there any 'bounce/vertical movement' of the floor when weight is applied and removed?
