Hello PPUKers,
We had a door aperture bricked up and a large casement window installed. Concrete lintels were installed in the outer and inner courses of bricks just above where the new window was to be installed. The wall is a typical solid yellow stock wall but the brick layer has created a cavity between the lintels and several courses of bricks above.
I have the opportunity to fill the cavity and I am wondering if it is wise to do. The walls will have 50mm of Eden Hotlime insulating plaster internally and cork board insulation externally with Best of Lime's Warmcote/Limecote - if that is at all relevant?
My concern is that the new cavity in an otherwise solid wall will create a cold void and a trap for condensing moisture. I could, for example, mix up some Warmcote plaster and fill the cavity with it?
What do folks think?
Many thanks.
