Normal Radiators unfortunately

Hi all
Me and my partner looked into cast iron and steel rads and they are too expensive for us, so we thought we’d just get “normal” radiators for now. We thought about getting used ones but we would rather buy new when it comes to rads. We have accepted this

I am just wondering if anyone can advise where to get convection or other “normal” (modern) types of rads from?

I think i will cover them with rad covers or paint them, just to feel better about it all.

I've used City Plumbing for bog standard radiators. They do the Stelrad Halcyon range which are relatively inexpensive. Slightly more than the cheap ones from Screwfix (only £5-10 more), but they will deliver for free to most parts. For a fitted kitchen, you can't go far wrong with a plinth heater - I recently fitted a KPH2400 - Expensive, but having a warm breeze at floor level is nice, and it frees up wall space.

Depending on what flow/return temperatures you used for the heat loss calculations, it is a good idea to fit 30-50% bigger radiators. This allows you to run at a lower temperature which will boost efficiency.

We've fitted Flomaster rads from Screwfix without any issues. We fitted the last 2 just a few months ago, but started replacing rads when we first moved here, so some of them must be >20 years old now (it's a slow process this refurb lark!).

As Paulc suggests, we oversized all of them.

How about column radiators? Ive done 2 properties over 15 years with Screwfix/B&Q rads - Acova ones without any problems
