What is the best product to use on solid wood work/counter tops in the kitchen ?it needs to be durable as I do lots of cooking and is there a heat resistant option just incase?

Thinking back to when I sold wooden worktops many years ago, one problem was wet cast iron pans being put on them - it stained some of the timbers if I remember rightly, oak in particular. Memory is a bit fuzzy though! We sold Danish oil to finish them with, but I've heard tung oil is better.
Or make your own kitchen worktop from old scaffold boards and feel free to trash it.LadyArowana said:Best to have an ornamental kitchen and just dust it.
