Hi All,
I have been struggling with our black and red quarry tile floor since we moved in.
Somewhat oddly it is just the red tiles effected, they have had a white residue and a fair few are badly spalled. I have tried a range of chemicals including effervescence treatment, cement remover, heavy duty cleaners, wax remover and multiple multiple washings but to no avail, UNTIL..
I had recalled a paste from days gone by that used to be scrubbed into door steps but googling didn't find anything so I assumed the death of red lead had caused the end of the product. However, I recently cam across this version:
(I know it is potentially sealing the floor with wax but this treatment has been around a very long time so I am happy that it is sympathetic to the floor.)
Here you can see some before and after photographs
Overall it came out quite well and I am very happy with the result.
Hope it might be of interest to some of you.
Cheers,
Richard B.
