Hello all, so I'm looking to buy an old cottage and it has a shingle roof - I've never seen one before on a cottage - just on a shed! Does anyone have any views on them? The village has a lot of thatched cottages, so I'm assuming that a shingle roof is no harder to insure than a thatch...? The property isn't listed but it is in a conservation area.
I'm not sure I would be able to replace it, but to be fair, I can't find any signs of damp on the inside and the property has been empty since last year.
Is a shingle roof a big NO or a buyer beware....
Thank you for any and all comments!
