I got my LBC pre app back recently.
One of the things I asked was about whether I need LBC for modifying the flaunching, it's cracked so I want to put some thicker NHL flaunching on, and reinstate what we think would be the original style chimney pots. I provided a link to some beige 600mm clay cannon pots. Two per chimney. Four chimneys, 8 pots in total.
General feedback fromt he CO was pretty strict for all internal work, but on the chimneys (which i see as the key feature of the house) the response was no LBC needed, crack on.
I guess from the CO view, it's all reversable so low risk.
But I'm now second guessing whether this house would have had chimney pots at all.
Of the 8 flues, we will never use 7 of them. One may be used occasionally. So form a practical point, we are lookign for a way to cap them off, but allow some air movement.
Does anybody know, or can suggest how I can find out if this house would have had chimney pots, and if so, what style?
If I conclude not to provide a pot, is slate, and a small opening still a sensible way of capping it off?
