Smoothing down brick - unsightly mark

Hi all. My roofer came to do a gutter repair and on completion he came down the ladder and then pulled it down awkwardly. It left a line from this motion on the red brick and render.

It looks superficial and not massive or concerning damage, but it’s unsightly.

Can I smooth it down somehow? Any suggestions?

The render will paint out fine. As for the brick I'd try muckying the fingers of a pair of rigger gloves with your driveway, some algea from a shaded wall and then rubbing it over the lines on the brick.

Errr can I ask - Have you got a ladder you can use to get up there? If not you could hire one but then - what's the chance you might do the same. similar or worse damage yourself when you put the ladder up or take it down afterwards?

You might do better, and personally safer, with a good stiff brush on a long pole.

It’s quite high up and I’m a bit nervous about the height. I think the long pole sounds more appealing!!

(Btw I was a bit embarrassed to post this - I know looking at it it’s quite a minor mark, but when we had our electrician mistakenly drill a hole through several bricks back in September during our rewire, I have had a little anxiety about damage to bricks ever since.)

Better a blush or two than blood and broken bones. Most of us here echo your feelings but like to save the A&E visits for the mindless/clumsy pillocks that drill holes in the wrong place.

Your roofer needs to learn how to take a ladder away from the wall. If my labourer had done that I'd have felt obliged to make that good for you.
