Solar farms

Has anybody experience of installing their own solar farm? What with all the energy hikes, at this instant and no doubt more to come, I have been thinking about solar farms.
I cannot install roof mounted but have at the rear of the property a field/meadow, not within the listing curtillage, that looks ideal.
Where to start? I know planning may/will be needed but who is the best person to speak to get the ball rolling. There seems no lack of farms appearing in farmers fields these day.

At some point you're going to have to engage with your Distribution Network Operator. So their website might be a place to start doing some research. Here in the South East it's UKPower Networks.

For a domestic property, other than Zebra's suggestion, it is just your planning department. As it's not part of the curtilage of the property, you may find planning harder to come by.
I'd suggest getting some local solar panel installers around, as they'll also have knowledge on fitting, planning and connecting.

That will make it even more difficult, may have to get change of use first, but your planning dept will tell you.
