Stone window cill repair

Hi,

1st time poster

We purchased a Georgian property and have recently had the sash windows repaired/renovated. One thing this work highlighted was some deterioration to one of the stone window cills. The cill needs some filling and building up to set the angle away from the window as water is sitting on it currently. Would prefer the DIY route and wanted to see if someone could advise on what to use to repair and smooth off the stone?

Also, there is a 1cm gap underneath the cill where the mortar to the brickwork is missing, could anyone recommend what we will need to replace the mortar there? And also any recommendations on which suppliers/products would be great?

Hello, first off a question, is the cill loose it may be possible to remove and reset it making the slope proper once again. You will need a lime mortar for almost every thing you do so keeping a bag or two of in the shed is handy. There are cement compounds for over layering and levelling cement but not sure if that would be a good idea as a resurface of your cill. If you can’t reset the only option I see for your gap on the underside is repoint the gap using line mortar.

There are plenty of hydraulic lime based stone repair mortars you could use to repair the actual stone, I'll dig out a link later, and then yes, repoint gap underneath with a hydraulic lime mortar

Conserv are the lot I usually use, excellent products and sell them in a pre sorted tub, just mix, add water l, mix again and then off you go
