Morning,
My thatch was last replaced in combed wheat reed in 2015 by the previous owner.
After this winter, on the side that sees the weather (WSW) the thatch has for the first time looked a bit suspect. Its got a rather unpleasant look to it with 'layers' standing proud, and the proud bits feel rotten. We have of course had a very wet winter. The side that doesn't see the weather is fine. I've researched online, and I understand this is a regular thing with thatch (albeit to happen after just 5 years is a little unlucky) and it needs 'combing'.
So I've done what I can to research this online, but I would be very interested to hear from anyone who has actually had their thatch combed, your experience, tips, etc etc.
Thankyou.
