We have a new thatch being installed in the new year on our cottage and we are looking for recommendations for an insurer. We bought the house last July and stayed with the previous owners insurer, but the premiums were extortionate and they excluded any storm damage, as we couldn’t get the roof replaced within 30 days of moving in. Thankfully, the roof is old but watertight. Be really helpful to hear advice on insurance from any thatched property owners.

A search of Thatched House Insurance will give you the names and contact details of many of the brokers active in this market. The usual search engines such as GoCompare etc. are of limited use as they focus on the 'commodity large volume' businesses from which we were calved years ago. Good luck and come back if you're still having problems finding someone.
