Apology accepted! just remember when you retire! it is not quite as expected this retirement lark,we seem to be busy most of the time and go shopping when the cupboard is empty! phil. pensioners dont get weekends or bank holidays,every day is the same!

I can appreciate that you're still busy, but I trust that at least most of the time it is on something that you want to do, or that you at least want the end result. Alternatively, your partner / children want the end result.......

This is true,I did not belive folks who said after retirement that they did not know how they had the time to go to work but its true! it is probably jobs fitting the time available

I took early retirement (age 34). It's true that once you aren't working it seems inconceivable you ever managed it, not that I ever really did. Sometimes I toy with the idea of getting a job, and I have a look at what's advertised, but I can't make anything at all of the job titles - another grump. For example, there's a position advertised in The Woodland Trust - "Volunteering Development Co-ordinator", but what on earth is it?

As holiday approaches, I think of my general travel grumps
1. People who board a plane with umpteen pieces of luggage (because they didn't want to check them in) and proceed to try and ram them into the storage space on top of my small bag
2. The unfathomable desire for passengers to crowd around the departure gate way before boarding commences and who then seem unable to understand "We
will be boarding by seat row number"
3. Almost all airline food
4. Passengers who insist on reclining their seat fully, especially when you are trying to consume the inedible meal. They seem to feel that "I've paid for this seat and I therefore have the right to recline, even if my head is now in your lap"
5. Most British tourists abroad
