Probably a bit of an unusual post for a Sunday morning but here we go…
Toilets with close coupled cisterns - why?!
1) More of a pain to install,
2) More of a pain to maintain as basically every job requires draining and removal of the cistern which inevitably results in water on the floor
3) Less effective - a close coupled cistern is inevitably a smaller cistern so less water volume and less “head” on the water resulting in a less effective flush.
As I go round this house I’m slowly replacing the toilets with ones with separate cisterns but they are becoming more of a pain to source and therefore more expensive.
And don’t get me started on concealed cisterns where all the maintainable parts are boxed in…
Is it a form over function thing?
