Lovely machine and a good save!philpjuk100 said:Lathe 2.JPGMy lathe, 1880s Webster and Howarth, dug out from under a demolished hosiery factory over forty years ago and is still in use most weeks, I know a nice Student or Myford would be better and are now quite cheap now our industries have shut down but the lathe and I understand each other, I don't rush it and it turns parallel and gives a fair finish. My car will be a hundred in a couple of years and I hope to be able to get petrol for a few more years, My house is 700 years old, I really need something NEW!
Machine tools are my thing really (I'm a manual machinist to pay the bills, but it's more than just a job!). It's a good job I have little space at our house or I'd have loads of machines... I'm currently building a small garage for motorcycles and a couple of machines and work bench. I currently have a Raglan lathe (better than those common Myford things!) And a 10" stroke Alba shaper which will be going in there - and my girlfriend's Ariel can then move out of our living room! Modest machines but surprisingly capable and anything bigger I do at work. I have the affliction of messing with old cars and bikes, and in fact my latest unnecessary purchase was a S1 Land Rover in need of a lot of love.
Dare I ask what your car is?
