Hi All
Our front door is a fairly low quality thing that was installed, probably, in the 60s/70s. It's a hardwood but seems to expand and contract with moisture in the atmosphere. I've painted it only to have it expand which then made it very difficult to close so I sanded and planed it down and all was fine. This winter it's swelled up again and is getting very difficult to close and often to lock. Should I keep trimming it down? I'm worried that if I do, it's going to return to "normal" size in drier conditions and will then be too small. We're ultimately going to replace it but the cost is somewhat prohibitive at present but I'm getting fed up (and bruised!) having to swing a hip into it to bang it shut each time. Is there a solution to this that I've missed or is it just a case of put up with it until we can replace it?
Many thanks in advance.
